How did Adult.Ninja get started?: It started as a simple spreadsheet to track everyday home tasks. After years of trial and error, I realized I wasn't as organized as I thought. A friend and I teamed up to turn our frustrations into Adult.Ninja - a passion project for homeowners looking for a better way to handle home maintenance. I'm excited to hear your thoughts and suggestions.
How does Adult.Ninja help me maintain my home?: Adult.Ninja provides a centralized system to track maintenance tasks, store important documents, set reminders, and keep a complete history of your home's systems and services. It helps you stay organized and ensures you never miss important maintenance as well as keep comprehensive records of your home's systems and services.
What makes this different from a todo list or calendar reminder?: Unlike a standard repeating to-do list where a task simply disappears when marked as done and then pops up again as a new task, Adult.Ninja keeps a record of every completion. Each time you finish a task, we log the event so you can easily refer back to your maintenance history and see all that you've accomplished over time. We also keep all your records linked to the home location, systems, service providers, and documents.
What kind of tasks is Adult.Ninja meant to track?: Adult.Ninja covers a wide range of tasks—from home maintenance, safety checks (like fire extinguishers and alarms), seasonal cleaning, gardening, landscaping, and vehicle inspections to pool upkeep, filter changes, and even small appliance maintenance (we're big fans of our coffee gear, too). You can check out our Explore page for a look at some ready-made templates, or create custom tasks to track exactly what you need.
Can I manage multiple properties?: Yes! Adult.Ninja is built to handle multiple properties—whether they're vacation homes, rentals, or family houses. Right now, each account is capped at one property, but we're planning a premium tier soon to unlock more locations. Feel free to check out our pricing page to express your interest and get more details.
How do reminders work?: You can opt-in to receive email notifications for upcoming and overdue tasks. We'll also send you a weekly email digest of your upcoming tasks. Additionally, you can subscribe to your maintenance calendar using our iCal feed, which works with Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, and other calendar apps.
What kind of scheduling options are available?: You can set a task to repeat on a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly basis. You can also "Snap" tasks to the nearest weekend. This is particularly useful for larger DIY tasks. If you're not ready to complete a task when it comes due, you can Snooze the task to a later date or set the next due date to a specific date.
Adult.Ninja seems focused on DIY… what about tasks I need a professional for?: Adult.Ninja isn’t just for DIY — it’s built to handle both jobs you tackle yourself and those you hire pros to do. For DIY tasks, you can add step‑by‑step instructions, link to the exact products you need (think replacement filters or tools), and keep everything handy in one place. For professional services, store provider contact info, upload quotes or invoices, log who did the work and when, and jot down any notes. That way you always have a complete, centralized history of every task — whether it’s a weekend project or a service call.
Can I log one-off or one-time tasks like installing a new appliance or an infrequent repair?: Aboslutely! We don't only help you track the routine maintenance, but also these kinds of one-off tasks. The best way to log these currently is to create a System for the maintenance task and then click the "Log Task" button. This will create a new task that is linked to that system. You can upload invoices, receipts, attach the service provider information, and keep detailed notes on what was completed.
I see some limits on the free tier, but it doesn't seem like I can subscribe to the premium version yet?: We're working on it! This is a side project for us and we're currently still testing and building the basic features with early users (hopefully you're one of them - anyone can sign up for free!). We'll be rolling out a premium tier soon to unlock more locations, additional document storage, and more. We hope the free tier packs a ton of value.
