Test GFCI Outlets
Test and reset all GFCI/AFCI outlets, verify proper operation of all outlets and switches. Press the test and reset buttons manually on each outlet or invest in an Outlet Tester with a GFCI tester.
GFCI outlets are usually found in areas where water is present (kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoors) to help protect against shock.
Test Hot Tub Water Chemistry
Check and adjust hot tub pH, alkalinity, and sanitizer levels.
Test Smoke & CO Detectors
Verify all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are functioning properly.
Press and hold the test button on each detector until the alarm sounds (usually 3–5 seconds). If battery-operated, replace batteries if the alarm sounds weak or doesn’t sound. Check the manufacture date on each detector (replace smoke detectors after 10 years and CO detectors after 5–7 years). Vacuum or dust detector vents to ensure they’re clear. Verify all detectors are properly mounted and not loose. Confirm interconnected detectors all sound when one is tested. Finally, record the test date and results here.
Test Water Softener Salt Level
Check and replenish water softener salt to maintain proper water treatment.
Toilet Leak Check
Test toilets for leaks by inspecting around the base and tank. Place a few drops of food coloring in the tank to check for slow leaks into the bowl. Fix leaks promptly to save water and avoid floor damage.
Vehicle State Inspection
Schedule the annual state inspection for your vehicle to comply with your state regulations.
Wash Hood Filters
Remove and clean the range hood filters to remove grease and maintain ventilation efficiency.
Water Heater Anode Rod Inspection
The anode rod inside your water heater protects against rust and corrosion by attracting minerals that otherwise attack the tank. Inspect it every couple of years—more often if you have hard water—and replace it if it’s significantly worn. This simple check extends the life of your water heater and prevents costly damage.
Winterize Irrigation System
Prepare the irrigation system for winter by purging, draining, and insulating pipes as necessary.
Winterize Pool
Prepare the pool for winter by lowering the water level, adding winterizing chemicals, and covering the pool.
